SPACES (Wiehle Metro – Reston, VA)

In January 2018, Comstock Partners announced that SPACES was the first tenant to sign a lease in the new speculatively developed and newly constructed Trophy-Class office building at 1900 Reston Metro Plaza. The SPACES project was a first generation build-out of 36,400 total SF on the 5th and 6th floors of the 16-story building. Reston Metro Plaza was designed by internationally renowned architect, Helmut Jahn, and is located within what is being touted as one of the biggest transit-oriented, mixed-use developments in the Washington D.C. area. This project presented an opportunity for SPACES to have a landmark corporate presence in this premier, high visibility location. The quality of construction for the interior build-out needed to reflect SPACES’ brand as well as the prestige of this office environment.


Westwood Contractors was selected as the general contractor responsible for complete build-out which included:


5th Floor: small spec suite, large spec suite, 55 office spaces of various sizes, business club, a refresh pantry, booths for seating, communications center, a storage closet, and elevator lobby.


6th Floor: a small spec suite, large spec suite, 3 office suites, 48 offices, a wellness room, a reserved co-working area, copy room, storage space, closet, reception closet, reception, booths for seating, business club, café with prep room, general open co-working space, 2 meeting rooms, and elevator lobby.


A 24’ x 8’ hole was cut into the concrete between the 5th and 6th floors to accommodate a new monumental staircase connecting the open areas of each floor.


Our scope of work included demolition (consisting of coring for plumbing & electrical, as well as mechanical demo), concrete, rough carpentry, finish carpentry, fixture installation, millwork, waterproofing & caulking, doors frames & hardware, windows/glass/glazing, drywall/framing/acoustical, ceramic/stone flooring, resilient flooring/base, carpeting, wood flooring, sealed concrete flooring, painting & wall covering, miscellaneous steel, perimeter shades/curtains/track, appliances and miscellaneous equipment, fire sprinklers, plumbing, HVAC, air balance, electrical, fire alarm, and low voltage.


The 24-week project was completed in December 2018.
