Providing Solutions for Challenging Projects
This project was very unique in that the new Michaels was built beneath an existing grocery store in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A number of obstacles related to the environment and a threat posed by condensation and water had to be overcome during construction of the 45,000 square-foot, two-level store that included a ground floor and basement. In addition, the Cambridge Michaels served as a prototype project for the retailer’s new store design, color scheme and fixture package.
The scope of work included structural steel and concrete, installation of an elevator and escalator, carpentry, drywall, paint, flooring, and a significant upgrade to the site’s mechanical, electrical and plumbing. A new exterior entry was also constructed that required specialized glazing, steel and exterior insulation finishing systems.
