Biking for Charity:
Bob Benda, Chairman and CEO of Westwood Contractors, is currently taking part in the annual Christian Elder Memorial 900-mile bike-a-thon. The CEM 900 is dedicated to raising money for Kids 'n Kinship, a non-profit organization that matches kids ages 5 - 16 with volunteer mentors helping to provide direction and support in their lives. The link provided let's viewers keep up with Bob and the team during their ever-so-long bike ride. |

Top 100 Private Companies:
For the seventh year in a row, in 2010, Westwood Contractors was honored by the Fort Worth Business Press as one of the top private companies in the greater Fort Worth area. The area is one of the most populous, dynamic, and fastest growing areas in the United States; therefore, it certainly is an honor and achievement to earn and keep this designation.

Winner, Outstanding Merit Award: In 2009, Westwood was recognized for our part as a key contributor to the REI store in Round Rock, TX. During the 38th Annual Association for Retail Environments (A.R.E.), the prestigious "Outstanding Merit award" was presented to REI for the category of Specialty Store over 25,000 square feet (new or remodeled). We were certainly honored to have been a part of this award as well as to have been the General Contractor on this high-profile project for REI.

Built on "The Magnificent Mile" in Chicago:
Over the years, Westwood has built multiple retail projects on the Magnificent Mile, in the heart of Chicago. Our most recent was Billabong. Billabong, the global board sports retailer headquartered out of Australia, hired Westwood to build their first store in the greater Chicago market. This high-profile store on Michigan Avenue features products, apparel, and accessories for boardsports enthusiasts, to include surfboards, snowboards, wakeboards, and skateboards. Needless to say, the store and its offerings are "way cool."

2008 Retail Store of the Year Award for Environmental Sustainability:
Westwood was provided the opportunity to build a new prototype store for REI. The Boulder, CO store was designed to meet LEED standards for commercial design and construction and to serve as a working laboratory to analyze the performance of green-building features and potential new retail concepts. In February 2008, Chain Store Age awarded REI its top honors in green-building. Westwood was proud to be the General Contractor for this extremely important, iconic project. Additionally, the store attained LEED Gold status by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). Westwood has construction experience on multiple LEED certified projects. Bebe Flagship Store:
In 2005, Westwood was awarded the opportunity to build a 3 story flagship store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, CA for bebe. We used 2 webcams on site over the duration of the project so that bebe top management could link in and view the project real time at any time night or day. The store opening was an invitation only, Hollywood style, star-studded fashion event. We were proud to be a major player in this high-profile build project. |
