Charles Schwab – New Retail Branch (West Des Moines, IA)
When Charles Schwab decided to move an existing retail branch operation into a stand-alone location, Westwood Contractors was selected as the general contractor to oversee project. The project began as a newly constructed vanilla shell space completely devoid of any interior walls or partitions. We were responsible for the tenant improvement which involved a full build-out of the entire 5,251 SF space to accommodate the new Charles Schwab retail branch. Functional areas in the new space include a reception area, customer lounge with courtesy beverage center, nine private offices, a back office/employee lounge, two conference rooms, a seminar room, men’s and women’s restrooms, storage space, and mechanical and electrical rooms. Our scope of work included rough carpentry, millwork, roofing, doors frames & hardware, windows/glass/glazing, drywall/metal stud framing/acoustical, ceramic floor tile and ceramic wall tile in restrooms, VCT tile flooring at back office/employee lounge and storage closet, carpet tiles in all other spaces except mechanical/electrical rooms, resilient flooring base, painting & wallcovering, fire sprinklers, plumbing, HVAC, air balance, electrical, and low voltage. Sawcutting and concrete work was required to run electrical and plumbing. Installation of microwave, refrigerators, dishwasher, key cabinet, and window shades was also required.
Coordination with the Client’s furniture/plant, sign, and security vendors was required. In particular, the site had to be substantially complete to provide a secure, dust-free, and accessible environment for the audio/visual vendor. A projector lift was installed in the seminar room allowing the projector to be retracted into the ceiling and out of view when not in use.
The 9-week project was completed in May 2017.
